# The Very Good Letter Company > The Very Good Letter Company sends personal letters at scale: direct mail for B2B sales, marketing and customer success teams, and any business or charity with a list. Each letter or card is written for the person who opens it, handwritten by robots with real fountain pens in real ink on real paper, then sealed, stamped and posted in the UK: outbound sales letters, win-back letters, thank-you cards, welcome cards, invitations and corporate Christmas cards. The personal touch. For everyone. A letter written in real ink is the highest-touch outreach there is: it gets opened, read and remembered. Every letter written for the person who opens it. - **New revenue** (Outbound, a letter): A first letter to the accounts you most want to win. [Outbound letters](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/outbound) - **Won-back deals** (Re-engagement, a letter): For the deal, or the customer, that went quiet. [Win-back letters](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/re-engagement) - **Repeat business** (Thank you, a card): For the customers who keep coming back. [Thank-you cards](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/thank-you) - **Retention** (Welcome, a folding card): A warm start for every new customer. [Welcome cards](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/welcome) - **Turnout** (Invitations, a folding card): For the launch, the dinner or the private view. [Invitations](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/invitations) - **Personal connection** (Season’s greetings, a folding card): Every card on the list, written for the person who opens it. [Christmas cards](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/christmas-cards) ### Outbound letters: Introduce yourself in ink. A first letter to the accounts you most want to win, written for each person in real ink and posted to their desk. No inbox to fight, no filter to get past. [Outbound letters](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/outbound) What to write. A first letter to start from. The blanks fill in from each person’s row on your list, so every letter opens with something true about them. > Dear [first name], > > Congratulations on [their news]. > > I have admired what [company] does for a while, and I think we could make the next step easier. > > Could I buy you a coffee and show you how? > > With best wishes, > > [your name] Make it theirs. - **Start with them.** Open with something true about their business: a new site, a new hire, a move. Then say why you’re writing. - **Ask for one thing.** Make the next step small and plain: a call, a coffee, a code to scan. - **Choose the list well.** A letter costs more than an email, so send it where a reply would matter most. Write with AI. Or let your assistant write every one. Connect Very Good Letter to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, ask in plain words, and it writes each person a letter of their own. For example: “Using Very Good Letter, write a first letter to each account on our target list. Read up on each company first and open with something true and recent. Show me every letter and the price before ordering.” [Send with AI](https://www.verygoodletter.co/build-with-ai) **Can it carry a QR code?** Yes. Print one on the letter, under the writing, so they can book a call from their phone. ### Win-back letters: Pick up where you left off. For the deal that went quiet and the customer who drifted. A letter in real ink says you remember them, and gives them an easy way back. [Win-back letters](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/re-engagement) What to write. A letter to start from. The blanks fill in from each person’s row on your list, so it picks up exactly where you left off. > Dear [first name], > > It has been a while since we last spoke, and I would hate to lose touch with [company]. > > Since then we have added [what they asked for], which I remember mattered to you. > > If the timing is better now, I would love to pick up where we left off. > > All the best, > > [your name] Make it theirs. - **Remember the last conversation.** Say when you spoke and what they cared about. It shows the letter is for them. - **Say what’s changed.** Give them a reason to look again: the thing they asked for, a new price, a new face. - **Leave the door open.** No guilt and no pressure. Say you’d like to talk, and how to reach you. Write with AI. Or let your assistant write every one. Connect Very Good Letter to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, ask in plain words, and it writes each person a letter of their own. For example: “Using Very Good Letter, write to each customer who went quiet this year. Check our notes from the last conversation and tell them what has changed since. Show me every letter and the price before ordering.” [Send with AI](https://www.verygoodletter.co/build-with-ai) **Can each letter mention our last conversation?** Yes. Anything on your list goes into their letter, in the same ink as the rest: when you last spoke, what they asked about, who they spoke to. ### Thank-you cards: Say thank you properly. For the customers who keep coming back. A card in real ink, with their name and what they bought, shows them you noticed. [Thank-you cards](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/thank-you) What to write. A thank-you to start from. The blanks fill in from each customer’s row on your list, so every card names what they bought. > Dear [first name], > > Thank you for choosing us again. We hope you are enjoying the [what they bought]. > > Customers like you are why we do this, and we never take it for granted. > > With thanks, > > [your name] Make it theirs. - **Name the thing.** Thank them for something they did: the order, the referral, the year. A column on your list carries it into every card. - **Don’t sell.** A thank-you with an offer in it reads as an advert. Save the offer for another day. - **Keep it short.** Two or three sentences is plenty. Short reads as meant. Write with AI. Or let your assistant write every one. Connect Very Good Letter to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, ask in plain words, and it writes each person a letter of their own. For example: “Using Very Good Letter, write a thank-you card to each customer who ordered again this year. Mention what they bought, and keep it short. Show me every card and the price before ordering.” [Send with AI](https://www.verygoodletter.co/build-with-ai) **Can it mention what they bought?** Yes. Anything on your list goes into their card, in the same ink as the rest: their name, their company, the last thing they bought. **Card or letter?** Either. Flat cards, folded cards or folded letters, on four papers, all the same price. ### Welcome cards: Welcome them aboard. Start as you mean to go on: a card in real ink for every new customer, early on, with their name, a word from you and anything they’ll need to know. [Welcome cards](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/welcome) What to write. A welcome to start from. The blanks fill in from each new customer’s row on your list, so every card is theirs from the first line. > Dear [first name], > > Welcome aboard. We are delighted [company] chose us. > > I will be looking after you myself, so if anything comes up, however small, just call. > > With warm wishes, > > [your name] Make it theirs. - **Send it early.** While everything is new, a card says you’re glad they came. - **Put a name to it.** Sign it from the person they’ll deal with, so they know who to call. - **Print the practical bits.** Hours, contacts, the Wi-Fi: print them inside the cover, and keep the ink for the welcome. Write with AI. Or let your assistant write every one. Connect Very Good Letter to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, ask in plain words, and it writes each person a letter of their own. For example: “Using Very Good Letter, write a welcome card to each customer who joined this week. Look up each company and make each welcome their own. Show me every card and the price before ordering.” [Send with AI](https://www.verygoodletter.co/build-with-ai) **Can the card carry our details too?** Yes. Your logo, colours and details print on the card: the first week’s notes inside the cover, say. The ink is for the letter itself. ### Invitations: Ask them along. For the launch, the dinner or the private view. An invitation in real ink, written to them by name, says they were chosen, not added to a list. [Invitations](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/invitations) What to write. An invitation to start from. The blanks fill in from each guest’s row on your list, so every one says who they’ll meet. > Dear [first name], > > We are having a few people over to celebrate, and it would not be the same without you. > > [who they’ll meet] will be there too, and I think you would get on. > > Do bring someone. All the details are inside. > > With warm wishes, > > [your name] Make it theirs. - **Say why them.** A line on why you thought of them, or who else will be there. - **Print the details.** The date, the place and how to reply go in print inside the cover, so the ink can be the invitation. - **Make replying easy.** An email, a phone number or a code to scan, printed where they’ll see it. Write with AI. Or let your assistant write every one. Connect Very Good Letter to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, ask in plain words, and it writes each person a letter of their own. For example: “Using Very Good Letter, write an invitation to our private view for each guest on this list. Check what each one has bought from us and add a line on why they will love it. Show me every invitation and the price before ordering.” [Send with AI](https://www.verygoodletter.co/build-with-ai) **Can each invitation be different?** Yes. Each guest’s name, and anything else on your list, goes into their invitation in the same ink as the rest. **Where do the date and RSVP go?** In print, inside the cover, with your design. The ink is for the invitation itself. ### Christmas cards: Christmas cards, written inside. Every card on your list written in real ink, for the person who opens it. Then sealed, stamped and posted, while you get on with Christmas. [Christmas cards](https://www.verygoodletter.co/use-cases/christmas-cards) What to write. A card to start from. The blanks fill in from each person’s row on your list, so every card thanks them for something of their own. > Dear [first name], > > Thank you for [something from this year]. It has been one of our highlights of the year. > > Wishing you and everyone at [company] a very happy Christmas and a peaceful new year. > > With warm wishes, > > [your name] Make it theirs. - **One line that’s only theirs.** Thank them for something from this year: the project, the order, the introduction. - **Sign off as you.** From a person they know, not the company: your name, or “and all at” the firm. - **Your cover, your season.** Christmas, the new year or just the season: the cover is your design. Write with AI. Or let your assistant write every one. Connect Very Good Letter to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, ask in plain words, and it writes each person a letter of their own. For example: “Using Very Good Letter, write a Christmas card to each client on our list. Check our notes on each project and thank them for something real. Show me every card and the price before ordering.” [Send with AI](https://www.verygoodletter.co/build-with-ai) **Can each card say something different?** Yes. Their name, their company, anything on your list goes into their card, in the same ink as the rest, so every card can thank them for something of their own. ## Who sends them - [Founders](https://www.verygoodletter.co/for/founders): Letters from you to first customers, dream accounts and the people who helped. A real fountain pen writes every letter, start to finish, with their name in the same ink as every other word. You see each one before it’s written. - **Bring your list.** A spreadsheet, your CRM or a few names typed in: that’s all we need. Whatever’s on your list can go in the letter: their name, their company, the last thing they bought. - **Pop it in the post.** We seal, stamp and post every one. You won’t lick a single envelope. ## Build with AI Ask Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or Gemini for letters in plain words. It reads your brand, finds the right people, writes each of them a letter of their own and tells you the price. Nothing is ordered until you say yes. - **Connector address:** https://app.verygoodletter.co/mcp (MCP over Streamable HTTP; you sign in with OAuth and allow it). In the official MCP Registry as `co.verygoodletter/letters`. - **Works with:** Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and Gemini, and any assistant that connects to MCP servers with sign-in. - **Connect:** https://app.verygoodletter.co/agents. The full guide, with each assistant's steps and ready-made requests: https://www.verygoodletter.co/build-with-ai.md - **You sign in, and allow it.** Connecting asks you to sign in to Very Good Letter and allow your assistant. It acts as you, in your account. - **Ordering is a separate yes.** It’s a permission of its own, off unless you tick it when you connect. - **Only what you agreed.** It orders only after you’ve said yes to the letters, the people and the price, and only the number of letters you agreed. - **Credits, never cards.** It pays only from credits already on your account. Card payments are always yours to make, in the app. - **Stop it any time.** Disconnect it from your account and it stops at once. - **On the record.** Reading your customers and placing orders are logged on your account. - **Not yet: Pictures in the chat.** It shows you the words of every letter, who it’s to and the price, with a link to see each one in the app, in the pen’s own strokes. - **Not yet: Ordering in ChatGPT.** ChatGPT makes the letters; you order them in the app. - **Not yet: Connecting apps.** Connect Shopify, Stripe or a CRM in the app, and your assistant can read it from then on. Tools: `get_brand` (see your brand), `set_brand` (change your brand), `read_brand_from_website` (set up your brand from your website), `list_starting_points` (see ways to start a letter), `create_letter` (start a new letter), `list_letters` (see your letters), `get_letter` (see a letter), `list_looks` (see the looks for a letter), `update_letter` (change a letter), `add_recipients` (add people to a letter), `list_recipient_lists` (see your saved lists), `use_recipient_list` (send a letter to a saved list), `list_connected_apps` (see your connected apps), `read_customers` (read customers from a connected app), `get_price` (see the price), `list_orders` (see your orders), `order_with_letter_credits` (order a letter, paid with credits). ## Features ### Send with AI: Ask your assistant. - **Connect it once.** Add our connector to Claude, ChatGPT or Grok, or any assistant that speaks MCP, and sign in. It runs in your own assistant account. - **Ask in plain words.** It reads your brand from your website, starts the letter, writes the words, picks a look and adds the people, from a spreadsheet or one of your lists. - **A letter for each person.** Tell it what you know about each person and it writes every one a letter of their own, sized to fit. - **Nothing goes without you.** It shows you the words, who they’re to and the price first, with a link to see it in the app. It only orders when you say yes, from credits you already have; card payments stay with you, in the app. Connector address for assistants: https://app.verygoodletter.co/mcp (MCP over Streamable HTTP; connecting asks you to sign in). ### Nib: Meet Nib. - **Our own handwriting model.** Nib doesn’t choose the words. It draws yours as pen strokes, the way a hand moves, so the writing never comes from a font. - **Twelve hands.** Choose one of twelve styles, then how neat it is, from loose to neat. - **Drawn for each person.** Every letter is drawn for its own words, the name and the details included, rather than copied from one master. - **See it before you pay.** In the app you see every person’s letter in Nib’s own strokes, exactly as the pen will write it. ### A real fountain pen: Written by robots. Unquestionably human. Real fountain pens, real ink, real paper. Just a steadier hand than ours. - **A real fountain pen.** Our robots hold a real fountain pen and write every letter out stroke by stroke, along the lines Nib drew. - **Real ink.** Wet ink from a real nib, not print. It sinks into the paper, the way a pen’s does. - **Real paper.** Every letter is on high-quality paper you choose, at no extra cost. - **Then into the post.** We seal it in its envelope, stamp it and post it, first or second class, or box them up and send them to you. ## Pricing Every letter is written in real ink, sealed, stamped and posted. The more you send, the less each one costs. ### Pay as you go. For a few letters at a time. From £3.96 a standard letter + VAT. Buy a pack when you need one. Pack credits never expire. Order letters: https://app.verygoodletter.co - 1 standard letter: £7.50 each + VAT - 25 standard letters, £112.50: £4.50 each + VAT - 50 standard letters, £208.33: £4.17 each + VAT - 100 standard letters, £395.83: £3.96 each + VAT ### Plans. For letters all year round. From £3.25 a standard letter + VAT. Billed yearly. Or monthly, from £69 a month. Order letters: https://app.verygoodletter.co - Starter, 200 standard letters a year, £750: £3.75 each + VAT - Growth, 500 standard letters a year, £1,750: £3.50 each + VAT - Scale, 1,000 standard letters a year, £3,250: £3.25 each + VAT ### Custom. For more than 1,000 standard letters a year. Let’s talk. Tell us what you’re sending and we’ll price it. Talk to us: hello@verygoodletter.co - A bulk rate - Pay per meeting - The creative package: the strategy, your card and envelope designed, and the copy Prices as of October 2026, before VAT. Every letter includes its envelope, stamp and second-class post. ### How credits work. Every letter uses 7 credits. That pays for the writing, the envelope, the stamp and second-class postage. First class uses 9. The more credits you buy at once, the cheaper each one is. That’s why one letter on its own costs £7.50, but only £3.25 on our biggest plan. ### Fair questions. #### What’s included? Everything. We write the letter, put it in its envelope, stamp it and post it second class. Cards cost the same as letters, whichever paper you choose. #### Should I buy packs or a plan? If you’re sending a few letters here and there, buy packs. Their credits never run out. If you’ll send 200 or more a year, a yearly plan works out cheaper. #### Monthly or yearly? Yearly is 9% cheaper, and you get all the year’s credits up front. Monthly is £69, £162 or £299, depending on the plan, and anything you don’t use rolls over to the next month. #### Do credits expire? Pack credits never do. On a yearly plan, credits run out when the plan renews. #### What if I run out? You can still place the order. We add the extra credits to it, at your plan’s rate if you’re on one. #### Is it worth it? Try the [ROI calculator](https://www.verygoodletter.co/roi-calculator). Put in how many letters you’d send and what a new customer is worth to you, and it shows what you’d get back. ## What a letter’s worth. The [ROI calculator](https://www.verygoodletter.co/roi-calculator) works out what letters are worth to a business in a few sums, and you can do the same sums in a conversation. The cost is ours, from our real prices. Every other number is theirs to set: how many they send, what share take each step and what a customer is worth. We publish no reply rates, and the calculator’s starting values are only where its sliders sit first, not results of ours, so ask for their own numbers. Their CRM knows them best. ### What the letters cost. - **A letter’s credits.** A standard letter is 7 credits, posted second class; first class is 9 credits. Envelope, stamp and post included. - **In packs,** in any mix (pack credits never expire): 7 credits for £7.50, 175 credits for £112.50, 350 credits for £208.33, 700 credits for £395.83. - **Or on an annual plan,** topped up past its credits at the plan’s own rate: Starter, 1,400 credits for £750 a year (53.6p a credit); Growth, 3,500 credits for £1,750 a year (50p a credit); Scale, 7,000 credits for £3,250 a year (46.4p a credit). Annual credits expire at renewal. - **The cost is the cheaper of the two** for a year’s letters, before VAT. Annual plans are 9% less than monthly, so the sums leave monthly plans out. - **More than 7,000 credits a year** (1,000 standard letters) can have a bulk rate: hello@verygoodletter.co. The sums here top up the Scale plan instead. Standard letters, posted second class, before VAT, at our prices as of October 2026: | Letters a year | Credits | The cheapest way | Cost a year | A letter | | ---: | ---: | --- | ---: | ---: | | 25 | 175 | In packs | £112.50 | £4.50 | | 100 | 700 | In packs | £395.83 | £3.96 | | 200 | 1,400 | On the Starter plan | £750 | £3.75 | | 500 | 3,500 | On the Growth plan | £1,750 | £3.50 | | 1,000 | 7,000 | On the Scale plan | £3,250 | £3.25 | | 2,000 | 14,000 | On the Scale plan, topped up | £6,500 | £3.25 | First class, before VAT, at our prices as of October 2026: | Letters a year | Credits | The cheapest way | Cost a year | A letter | | ---: | ---: | --- | ---: | ---: | | 25 | 225 | In packs | £172.50 | £6.90 | | 100 | 900 | In packs | £538.33 | £5.38 | | 200 | 1,800 | On the Starter plan, topped up | £964.29 | £4.82 | | 500 | 4,500 | On the Growth plan, topped up | £2,250 | £4.50 | | 1,000 | 9,000 | On the Scale plan, topped up | £4,178.57 | £4.18 | | 2,000 | 18,000 | On the Scale plan, topped up | £8,357.14 | £4.18 | ### Working out the return. 1. **The cost:** the letters they’d send in a year, the cheapest way, as above. 2. **The wins:** their chain for the kind of letter, below. 3. **What comes back:** the wins × what a win is worth a year × the years counted, one or three. To count gross profit rather than revenue, × their gross margin too (the calculator starts at 60%). 4. **Back for every £1:** what comes back ÷ the cost. **Return on cost:** (what comes back − the cost) ÷ the cost, as a percentage. 5. **The break-even:** what one win brings over the years counted (at their margin, if counting profit) ÷ the cost of one letter, rounded down. It pays for itself if one letter in that many works. For example, 200 standard letters come to £750 (on the Starter plan: £3.75 a letter); if a new customer is worth £10,000 a year, it pays for itself if one letter in 2,666 wins a customer. ### Each kind of letter. #### New revenue: outbound letters Their numbers, and where the calculator’s sliders start: - Accounts you write to, a year: 200 letters - Book a meeting: 4% - Meetings that become customers: 25% - A new customer is worth, a year: £10,000 Accounts written to × the share who book a meeting = meetings booked. Meetings booked × the share that become customers = new customers. Each is worth what a new customer is worth a year. The break-even (step 5): it pays for itself if one letter in N wins a customer. #### Won-back deals: win-back letters Their numbers, and where the calculator’s sliders start: - Quiet deals and lapsed customers: 100 letters - Pick the conversation back up: 5% - Conversations that close: 20% - A deal is worth, a year: £5,000 Letters sent × the share who pick the conversation back up = conversations picked back up. Those × the share that close = deals won back. Each is worth what a deal is worth a year. The break-even (step 5): it pays for itself if one letter in N wins a deal back. #### Repeat business: thank-you cards Their numbers, and where the calculator’s sliders start: - Customers you thank: 500 cards - Extra customers who order again: 3% - Orders a year from each: 2 - An average order: £250 Customers thanked × the extra share who order again = customers who come back. Each brings their orders a year × an average order. The break-even (step 5): it pays for itself if one card in N brings a customer back. #### Retention: welcome cards Their numbers, and where the calculator’s sliders start: - New customers, a year: 300 cards - Extra who stay on: 2% - A customer is worth, a year: £2,000 New customers welcomed × the extra share who stay on = customers kept. Each is worth what a customer is worth a year. The break-even (step 5): it pays for itself if one card in N keeps a customer. #### Turnout: invitations Their numbers, and where the calculator’s sliders start: - Guests you invite: 200 invitations - Extra who come: 8% - Guests who become customers: 10% - A new customer is worth, a year: £5,000 Guests invited × the extra share who come = extra guests. Extra guests × the share who become customers = new customers. Each is worth what a new customer is worth a year. The break-even (step 5): it pays for itself if one invitation in N brings a guest who buys. #### Personal connection: Christmas cards Their numbers, and where the calculator’s sliders start: - Clients on your card list: 300 cards - Extra who stay another year: 1% - Introduce you to a new client: 0.5% - A client is worth, a year: £3,000 Cards sent × the extra share who stay another year = clients kept. Cards sent × the share who introduce you to a new client = new clients introduced. Each client, kept or new, is worth what a client is worth a year. The break-even (step 5): it pays for itself if one card in N keeps a client or brings a new one. ## Fair questions. ### What is The Very Good Letter Company? A service that sends personal letters for businesses. Each letter or card is written for the person who opens it, by a robot with a real fountain pen in real ink, then sealed, stamped and posted in the UK. It’s for founders, for sales, marketing and customer success teams, and for any business or charity with a list of people worth writing to. ### Who writes the letters? Written by robots. Unquestionably human. Real fountain pens, real ink, real paper. Just a steadier hand than ours. Nib, our handwriting model, guides each pen, in twelve styles from loose to neat. ### Is every letter different? Yes. Their name, their company, anything on your list goes into their letter, in the same ink as the rest. Want letters built on research into each person, or people to send them to? Our partner [MeetChase](https://meetchase.ai) does both. ### Can I check them before they go? Yes. Read every letter on screen before you pay, exactly as the pen will write it. ### Can it look like us? Yes. Give us your website and we bring in your logo, colours and typeface, or use your own letterhead. Flat cards, folded cards or folded letters, on four papers, all the same price. ### What does it cost? You pay in credits. A standard letter is 7 credits, envelope, stamp and postage included: from £3.25 a letter before VAT, as of October 2026. [See the prices](https://www.verygoodletter.co/pricing). ### Who posts them? We do. A standard letter goes second class; first class is 9 credits a letter. Or we box them up and send them to you to hand out. ### Is a letter better than an email? It depends what it’s for. Email is quicker and costs next to nothing, so use it for news, receipts and anything that has to arrive today. A letter costs more and goes by post, so send one where being opened, read and remembered is worth it: a first letter to an account you want to win, a deal that went quiet, a thank-you, a welcome. Use both: email for the everyday, a letter for the moments that count. ### Can I see one first? Yes.
